With summer coming to an end and fall approaching we are beginning to get excited for the sound of geese, ducks, and cranes working in close to our decoy spreads. If you have not experienced the waterfowl hunting in west Texas you are truly missing out.
The geese we are shooting are mainly lesser Canada geese. These geese run in big numbers and we run big decoy spreads meaning one thing…. HUNDREDS of geese at one time coming into the spread! With experienced guides we give you the best opportunity to harvest geese. We don’t just rely on the area and amount of birds that are in the area. We rely on our years of experience of hunting and killing geese and performing when we need to the most. The sound of that many birds and the sight of it can not be explained by words and pictures do it no justice. You truly need to visit us and see it for yourselves.
Along with the goose hunts we offer sand hill crane hunts. The sand hill crane is a pre historic looking bird with a wingspan of 6 foot!! It is a true unique experience shooting these birds. Not to mention their nickname is the rib eye of the sky for a reason, they are delicious. The area we are in winters thousands of crane and it is very typical to shoot a limit of sand hills.
Last but not least to be mentioned are the ducks. Our main birds are mallards and pintail but we shoot teal, gadwall, and wegion, on a regular basis usually resulting in a mixed bag. Our duck hunts are done over playa lakes mainly or water tanks. Although, it is very common to shoot the ducks in dry fields. It is also very common to shoot ducks and geese out of the same field or playa lake at the same time and maybe even sand hill cranes.
