Captain Orin Lonadier here, sorry for the lack of posts but I have been super busy catching fish. The fishing down here in Venice, Louisiana has been phenomenal to say the least!
Our days have consisted of meeting at the marina and leaving the dock by 5:30 in the morning. From there we head out in search of spotted sea trout (aka speckled trout). The bite with the trout has been unreal on live bait, but artificial has came in handy even when the live bait bite slows down. On average day we are putting atleast 50 trout in the boat early off in the day.
After giving the trout a good try we go in search for the red fish. The red fish we have been catching are perfect eating sized (around 20 inches long). Last week though in search of trout we found the bull red fish. Catching 30lb red fish every single cast early off in the morning! Talk about fun! Then as the day progressed the trout turned on!
With the rain up north of us the Mississippi River is high which would make it a little more difficult to catch fish, but it has not slowed us down one bit! Although the high river has not hurt us the fishing will just better and better as the year goes on! The river will recede and the red fish will get deep into the marsh.
July is approaching fast and the kids will be back in school in August. Get them out of the house for one more vacation and the outdoor experience of a life time. Call and get them down to Venice, Louisiana and they will have something to tell all their friends about when they go back to the class room!
